Today, executive management at large corporations—across industries—would like to make better business decisions by taking advantage of all the data (such as numbers, categories, texts, images, videos and audios) at their disposal. Also, these senior executives want the big-data-driven decisions to improve business outcomes and affect their top and bottom lines—they want much more than pretty visuals and autopsy-type ‘analysis paralysis.’ With uncertain economic times, every business is tightly managing capital and operating costs. This business climate mandates smarter decision making to ensure the best performance possible from mission-critical business processes. AYATA software definitely can help. AYATA's patented technology can not only predict future outcomes, but also prescribe decision options and the impact of each option. Companies such as Dell, Cisco, Microsoft and Apache Corporation use AYATA to make smarter decisions for some of their largest business processes.

HOW AYATA SOFTWARE WORKS

AYATA pioneered the technology behind Prescriptive Analytics with Hybrid (Big) Data through ten years of scientific research and development. AYATA's software synergistically brings together Data, Rules, and Models. Data can be operational and environmental (econometrics, competitive, weather, benchmarks, social media, etc.). AYATA software takes into account both structured (numbers and categories) and unstructured (texts, images, audios, videos) Big Data – the software has been architected from ground up to handle today’s growing data volume, velocity and variety. Rules define the business process and include constraints, preferences, policies, best practices, and boundaries. Models are techniques derived from mathematical sciences and related disciplines including machine learning, operations research, natural language processing, computer vision, pattern recognition and applied statistics. These three building blocks combine synergistically to deliver AYATA's prescriptive analytics solution.

How AYATA Software Works

Figure 1: The Evolution of Big Data Analytics shows the different stages of the Big Data Analytics journey,
eventually culminating in prescriptive analytics which allows users to both see and shape the future.

The infographic showcases how Big Data Analytics is evolving—from understanding the past (descriptive analytics = what happened; diagnostic analytics = why did it happen) to projecting the future (predictive analytics = what will happen) to seeing and benefiting from the future (prescriptive analytics = what will happen, when, why, and how to make the most out of this predicted future).

THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND PRESCRIPTIVE ANALYTICS

Simply put, the technology behind prescriptive analytics synergistically combines hybrid data, mathematical models and business rules. The data inputs to prescriptive analytics may come from multiple sources: internal, such as inside a corporation; and external, also known as environmental data. The data may also be structured, which includes numerical and categorical data, as well as unstructured data, such as text, image, audio and video data. Most of what makes up Big Data is unstructured – and this unstructured portion of Big Data will only increase in the coming years. Business rules define the business process and include constraints, preferences, policies, best practices and boundaries. Mathematical models are techniques derived from mathematical sciences and related disciplines including machine learning, operations research, natural language processing, computer vision, pattern recognition and applied statistics.

PRESCRIPTIVE ANALYTICS SOFTWARE BENEFITS

The software not only predicts "what will happen" and "when it will happen," but also "why it will happen." More importantly, the software suggests decision options on "how" to take advantage of a future opportunity (or mitigate a future risk) and show the implication of each decision option. The software can continually and automatically process new data to re-predict and re-prescribe so the predictions and prescriptions always stay relevant.

SECURE SaaS DELIVERY MODEL

AYATA software is delivered through a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. AYATA delivers Decision as a Service functionality hosted in accordance with a customer’s preference, generally using the customer’s own private cloud infrastructure for additional data security. The SaaS model enables AYATA to ensure that the customers are always using the latest version of the software and deriving the maximum value from it.
